DAY 1

We are going to have 2 days trip to Tbilisi cityThe capital of Georgia – Tbilisi, is located at the distance of 290 km north from Yerevan. The abundant vein of the layout of this mountainous city is Kura river, which, together with its flow, perfectly merges with the rhythm of the city. Tbilisi is always filled with vivid colors and happy mood. The city is rich with numerous historical-cultural monuments.

The tour starts with narrow streets, preserved from the early medieval region of Narikala and ends with specious Rustaveli Avenue. The modern shape of Tbilisi is a bright mixture of majestic cathedrals and ancient ruined castles, old neighborhoods and picturesque courtyards with openwork balconies, soviet buildings and ultramodern business centers, the contrast of which can be better seen from bird’s-eye view by taking a cable car.

We will visit Mtskheta city - the first capital of Christian Georgia is located at the mix-point of Kura and Aragvi rivers. Historical Monuments of Mtskheta are on the List of World Heritage. According to the legend, the city was founded by Mtskhetos - the son of Kartlos, who was the eponymous ancestor of the Georgians.

Then we will go to Jvari monastery. As a part of Mtskheta city, Jvari (Holy Cross) monastery is as well included in the list of UNESCO's monuments. It was built in the first half of the 7th century in the very same place, where the preacher of Christianity saint virgin Nune (Nino) erected a cross. The scenery is described in Lermontov's poem "Mtsyri". The monastery is located on a steep cliff of 150m high above the surrounding area. A wonderful view opens from here to Mtskheta city - to the mix-point of Kura and Aragvi rivers. Jvari monastery is a building with a square-formed cross plan, its edges are decorated with semicircular absids. The monastery ends up with a drum, having 8 round altars. The building was restored in 2007.

Overnight in Tbilisi.

DAY 2

We will start the second day of our trip with a visit to BorjomiBorjomi resort city is situated in a homonymous gorge, formed on the banks of the Kura river. The low-mountainous resort (810-850m) is covered by broadleaf and coniferous forests, is surrounded by mountain ranges from four sides. The mineral water, which is the most popular in Georgia, is useful for the treatment of respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous, as well as gastric diseases. The stone-made basins, found during the archaeological excavations, prove, that Borjomi has been known since ancient times. One of the city's sights of interest is Borjomi Park, where Romanovs' Palace, Mirza Reza Khan's house are located; also taking the ropeway, functioning in the park, one can fully enjoy the beauty of Borjomi.

Later we will have some stops in Akhaltsike and Vardzia.  The cave monastic complex of Vardzia is a classical example of Caucasian rocky settlements, constructed in 1156-1205. The complex stretches 900m along the cliff and has up to 600 habitable cells, chapels, baths, libraries. The stalls, reaching up to 8 floors, are connected by secret passages. In the central part of the monastic complex there the main temple - St. Holy Mother God church stands, the walls of which depict the frescoes of the Georgian Golden Age monarchs (including Georgi III and Queen Tamar). On the way to Vardzia - on both banks of the Kura river - there are located walls of various castles, including the wall of Tmuk berd (Tmogvi) castle. As a result of the earthquake of 1283, the 15m thick cliff was pulled down and rolled into the Kura river: the stalls were opened, because of which it has lost the defensive significance and becoming a priory.

After the tour we return to Yerevan city.
